#1 The Ex Taboo
Noella – 22, student
“If you want to end a date night early, talk about your ex then. It is the kiss of death. Guys don’t care about who your exes are and how bad they had been treating you. It will only make them think you are still dwelling in your previous relationships.
If you want to scare them away, go ahead and share your love stories and they will be dying to leave you soon.”
Talking about your ex is always a big No-no of first dates.
Your ex should never appear on a date, not personally showing up nor being mentioned at all.
He should only be a topic between you and your besties, not with your date.
#2 Learn to take compliments
Louise – a nurse and happy mom
“When a guy compliments you on the first date, he’s trying to show appreciation.
Don’t pretend to be humble to push it away. It will make him think that you are not taking yourself seriously or you are rejecting the kindness. Just say thank you.

If you feel awkward taking compliments from others, start by complimenting yourself!
This is by far the easiest way to grow confidence and manifest your dating goals. Here are 28 dating affirmations to practice every day that will help to grow confidence and self-love.
#3 Be Yourself
Barbara – a remarried mom
“Your relationship with a guy would never work if he’s not liking you for who you are. If so, you have nothing to lose to just let him go. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. Lying will only sabotage your relationship even if he is totally cool about your past. “

Well…It’s not necessary to reveal all your secrets on the first date.
However, if your date does ask you about it, don’t lie about it. The right guy will be able to love you for who you are.
Being too nervous may harm your dates. Follow this first date checklist to get your date prep organized and stress-free:)
#4 Be A Positive Vibe

Jennifer – an ordinary 20-something
“People don’t love to around salty human beings. Even though you may be having a hard time, try to stay positive and be the bright sunshine in their lives.
Think of something exciting to talk about. Share your passion, share a new movie you love. Don’t drown your date with negativity. They will find you so attractive that they couldn’t leave you at all.”
Being positive doesn’t mean that you need to hide your negative emotions.
If you are feeling comfortable with the person you date, share with him your thoughts, your worries and ask him “what if you were me, what will you do?”
It will make him feel needed and respected, and may also bring you two closer.
